Youth for Peace and Development (YPD) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 2018 in Cameroon. Guided by the core values of compassion, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and empowerment, YPD aims to empower youth and foster peace through development initiatives that transform communities.

 Vision:

YPD envisions a society where youth are empowered to lead peaceful lives, equipped with the resources and opportunities to contribute positively to their communities. We aspire to create an environment where every young person can thrive, irrespective of their background, and play an active role in shaping a peaceful society.

 Mission:

YPD empowers youth through comprehensive programs and initiatives focused on education, peacebuilding, economic opportunities, and community development. Through the promotion of skills, development, and fostering a culture of peace, YPD strives to create a fair society where youth actively participate in decision-making processes.

 Context:

The challenges faced by youth are manifold, including poverty, limited access to education, social unrest, and the aftermath of conflict. These issues disproportionately affect young people, leading to feelings of disenfranchisement and hopelessness. This context highlights the need for organizations like YPD to provide targeted support, enabling young individuals to overcome these obstacles and become agents of change in their communities.

 Purpose of this Document:

This policy document serves as a guide to YPD’s operations and guiding principles. It outlines the scope of the organization’s work, key goals for each program and initiative, and the target audiences YPD aims to reach. This document fosters effective collaboration among staff, volunteers, partners, and beneficiaries, enhancing transparency and accountability. It also serves as a framework for evaluating the effectiveness of our programs and ensuring they remain aligned with our mission.
